- Why do you think anyone would care enough about you to read this?
- I do have people ask me the same questions, so I thought I would just answer most of the major ones at one time. Besides, I’m just egocentric enough to want my own FAQ
- Why do you wear skirts?
- Because I like to. It’s not a sexual hangup, I don’t harbor a desire to be a woman, and I’m not a homosexual. It’s just fun.
- Aren’t all crossdressers homosexuals or wannabes?
- Absolutely not. Although there have not been a great number of unbiased studies done on crossdressing, the numbers I have seen indicate that the percentage of crossdressers who are homosexuals is approximately the same as the percentage of homosexuals in the male population. I’ve often wondered why this association is made.
- Isn’t it a sin for a man to wear women’s clothes?
- First you have to assume a set of religious beliefs. If you are asking this question, I will assume a Judeo-Christian belief system. If so, you are probably referring to Deuteronomy 22:5. With that as a given, then the letter of the law says that wearing clothes of the other gender is wrong (in fact, “an abomination”).However, in the same chapter it also says not to wear garments of mixed fibers (e.g. cotton/poylester, cotton/nylon, leather/lace), and to build parapets around the edges of your roof so that no one can fall off and hurt themselves. Deuteronomy is full of commands that no Christian and very few Jews honor today. You might want to read what Rabbi Tilsin has to say about Deut. 22:5. I also suggest looking at a Christian Cross-dresser’s confession. Although Mr. Devlin takes wearing women’s clothes to more of an extreme than I do, he has obviously spent a lot of time researching this issue.
- Are you really so desperate for a date that you’re advertising on the web?
- Well, I am advertising, but I’m not all that desperate. I have dated women since my divorce (one of them for 3 years), but do not presently have a girlfriend. I would really like to find someone to talk with and cuddle up to. My work does not put me in contact with many unattached women, and I don’t do the “bar scene”. This seemed like at least a possibility.
- Why not just go and pick up women in bars?
- For one reason, because I can’t handle cigarette smoke. If I could find a non-smoking bar I might try it. Maybe I should move to California.
- So, have you had any luck?
- I have met one woman this way, but it didn’t work out. I have several other inquiries, but most of them are from too far away.
- Ok, maybe I can understand the skirts, but why high heels? Don’t they hurt your feet?
- I’m not really sure. My first inclination was to wear a skirt with men’s dress shoes. I tried it, and didn’t like the look. As anyone who has worn them can testify, heels are not as comfortable as flats. But, I like the look, so I put up with them. I suspect that many women who wear heels feel the same way.
- Where did you find skirts to match your suit jackets?
- That one was actually easy. I went into a men’s tailor shop here in Little Rock (in fact, the same one who made President Clinton’s campaign suits) and asked for a suit with coat, pants, and skirt. The woman who was helping me thought for a few seconds, and then pulled out a book from a company who manufactures women’s and men’s suits, sometimes in the same materials. I ordered a suit on the spot, and went back a month later and got another one.
