I want to move to Brattleboro, VT. I like anyplace where people can walk around nude.

I haven’t been doing much LJ writing or even reading lately. I need to correct that. My days recently have been mostly filled with work. Getting the semester started this year has been a bit of a challenge. I have spent quite a bit of time working with the campus card system and it’s been tiring. We have new residence halls that just opened, and the company that was supposed to furnish the card access didn’t quite come through. So I spent much of last weekend building cables, installing card readers, and hooking up relays. That wasn’t in my plans. The new parking lot still doesn’t work, because they installed the readers in such a way that you can’t insert cards into them. Wouldn’t you think that would be a test someone would perform after mounting a reader?
Ah well. It hasn’t all been work. I played in my first LRKA kickball game on Sunday, where the Trippin’ Balls (I had nothing to do with the name) played the Hot Tamales. Photos are available.
Today I was sufficiently worn down that I decided to take a sick day and just sit at home. I turned off the phones and slept the morning away. I’m feeling better right now than I have been in a couple of weeks.

I’ve kept myself busy this weekend. Jamie convinced me that I needed to play on a team with the Little Rock Kickball Association. I thought it sounded like fun, so I headed out to a familiarization session on Saturday. I played in one game and watched part of another. I’m not very good, but that’s why our team is in the “Laid-Back League”. It’s more to have fun than to really try to win. We will be having games each Sunday starting next week.
Today I went for another drive to take county courthouse photos. I went through seven counties in southern Arkansas and back home — about 430 miles altogether. I was talking on the phone with
mirell as I was heading out on the first leg. He confided to me that when someone asks him what I do for a hobby he tells them that I read a lot. I guess that sounds better than saying I drive around the state photographing courthouses for no better reason than I want to.
I’m certainly ready for the weather to cool off a little. This weekend was better than last, but it’s still hot without a car air conditioner.
The upcoming work week promises to be busy. Hopefully I can lay a couple of projects to rest and relax a little bit.

Yesterday was fairly productive, despite not being able to convince my office desktop machine to run an Oracle client. I’m having to do development on the laptop, which is a bit of a pain, but I don’t have time to diagnose it right now.
I didn’t sleep well last night, for some unknown reason.
Today’s workday has begun with the entire data center unreachable due to a firewall upgrade that didn’t go as planned. I’m just glad that I have nothing to do with the firewall. :)

Too much work, too little time, too many interruptions, too little motivation, too little sleep.
Good night, all.

I need a new hobby — one that doesn’t require me to leave the house. Why is leaving the house bad? Besides being expensive, it’s hot. My car still does not have air conditioning, because I can’t convince myself to pay the $1800 to have it repaired. So, I’ve spent the weekend here at the house, and I’m becoming bored out of my mind. I have read books, watched anime, cleaned a little, and attempted to convince myself to do some home repairs (so far unsuccessfully — reference the aforementioned heat). I just can’t come up with anything I really want to do.
Oh well, work again tomorrow, so I will at least be occupied for several of my waking hours. The next couple of weeks promise to be busy trying to get ready for the start of the fall term (and contractors running behind schedule).
