I turned the heat off a few days ago when I thought it was going to stay fairly warm for a while. I awoke this morning with two cats stretched down each side of my body, and the fifth lying across my ankles. Apparently I make a good bedwarmer. :) Of course, it is a waterbed, so it’s fairly warm just on its own.
On a slightly related note, I know why my alarm clock didn’t wake me yesterday. This morning, since I was already awake, I heard a pathetic little *chirp* at the appointed time. I guess it knows I was looking at new alarm clocks a few days ago. Now I have to get another one. :( I suppose I shouldn’t complain too much. a $10.00 clock radio from K-Mart that’s lasted 8 years now is pretty good for something built to today’s standards. I think I need to find a 1960s alarm clock. It would probably have another 40 years of use left in it. Ebay, here I come.

Sometimes being recognized has its advantages. I went to Sonic last night for dinner (even though it’s not on my diet), and was given a free meal. Why? Apparently because I posed with Jackie last week. I won’t complain, but I just found it interesting.
I have been wishing for warmer weather, but I had forgotten one of the side effects. I was driving home tonight and picked up about 100 bugs on my windshield in the space of about half a mile. No more, anywhere else along the trip, but they were quite heavy in one spot. I only expect more as the temperature rises.
I think I should give up my quest for a retail job to supplement my income. I went to my interview at “The Buckle” tonight. At least I got to talk to somebody rather than just hand in an application and never hear anything. But it doesn’t help a man’s ego to be interviewed by someone half my age and be told that I won’t be called back for a second interview. The other applications I have turned in might as well have disappeared into a black hole.
I managed to get TRU64 Unix installed on our AlphaServer 4100 today. While I still feel that we aren’t doing this conversion in an appropriate manner (if we should be doing it at all), it was nice to at least make some progress. It’s kind of pleasant to do something at work that is different, kind of fun, and actually something I’m supposed to be working on.
Having a job on a college campus is a mixed blessing. Seeing all the lovely women is nice, but not when I come home every night alone.
I need to find out the best time to transplant daffodils. I know where some are that are likely to be bulldozed by next year that I need to “liberate” and move to my yard.
I also need to figure out how to secure my cabinets against Oscar. I have started keeping bread and crackers in the oven, because he hasn’t figured out how to open that yet. I just have to remember not to pre-heat it without removing everything. :)
I think that’s almost sufficient randomness for the evening.

vebelfetzer drew an icon just for me! I have tended to make my own icons rather than use anything someone else has made, but I have never had my very own drawing. This is really cool. I’m envious of people who can draw well.

I purchased a dress on ebay sometime last fall. I knew when I bought it that I would have to wait until the weather warmed up before I could wear it. I got it out of the closet today and tried it on. I discovered several things:
1) Not surprisingly, it looks much better on the model than it does on me.

2) Keeping it polished may be a real trick
3) I’m not sure what to wear under it.
4) I don’t think it’s possible to sit down while wearing it!!!!!
Item 4 makes it unlikely that I’ll ever wear it anywhere, but it’s rather a neat idea.

I have the windows open and there is a lovely breeze blowing through my bedroom. It’s a perfect night for snuggling.
I’m lonely.

A big Friday night for Dale — I came home, crawled in bed, and went to sleep. I wish I could say I awoke feeling thoroughly refreshed, but in truth I awoke with a headache and drenched in sweat. I am hoping that aspirin for the former and opening windows for the latter will make the rest of my night better.

I seem to be forming another bad habit — eating too much on the weekends. I went out last night to Chili’s and followed it up with a banana split at Sonic. That’s far too many calories. So, it’s back to dieting this week to make up for it. I’m making slow progress, but progress nonetheless. It just doesn’t help to undo half a week’s work on the weekend.
On the bright side, I was apparently a hit at Sonic (at least with Jackie).

Having “the perfect lawn” is over-rated (Jack). Wonders can be found in your own backyard if you work with nature rather than against her.

I picked up a skirt at Wet Seal when I was out Wednesday night. It’s black with white pinstripes. I really want to wear it, but I can’t decide what sort of top to wear. I know what I want, but I don’t have one. :) I should really lose at least five more pounds before going out in public with my belly showing, but I’ll probably wear it this weekend anyway. :)

There is a sign beside the road advertising a convenience store nine miles away.
